About Joanne

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Joanne Levy’s love of books began at a very early age.  Being the only female child in a family of six, she was often left to her own devices and could often be found sitting in a corner, her nose in a book.

After much teenaged misadventure, including becoming a high-school dropout and working at various dismal jobs, Joanne finally refocused and returned to school.  She graduated from McMaster University with a B. A. in Labour Studies.  She now works full time at one of Canada’s big banks as an executive assistant to a Vice President.

Joanne has taken several courses in creative and novel writing and belongs to a supportive but brutally honest critique group which meets regularly.   She is also an active member of Backspace (www.bksp.org) and finalled in their recent Conference Scholarship competition.  Most recently, Joanne's adult manuscript, What Happens in Vegas... won in its category in the 2007 RWA Chicklit Chapter’s Get Your Stiletto In The Door contest.  She has also placed second and third in the Backspace monthly short story contest.

Joanne still lives in Hamilton with her husband and kids of the furred and feathered variety.
