Sometimes Cool Stuff Happens To Me

Some cool stuff happened that I’d like to tell you about.

First, blogger extraordinaire, Evie from Bookish surprised me on Twitter with this tweet: Book Thong I made for @JoanneLevy and am planning to trade it for some extra cupcakes at her awesome Launch:

HOW COOL IS THIS? Right? Evie, thank you – you’re getting a big hug AND extra cupcakes for this. I can’t wait to see the real thing (AND YOU) at my launch.

So that’s one cool thing, how about another? Yep. So here’s the review from Kirkus, those people who even call themselves “The world’s toughest book critics.” You know I bit my nails to the quick when I was waiting for this one, don’t you?

But I needn’t have worried!

Yadda, yadda, yadda…stuff happens (I’m paraphrasing) and then… “In a fresh, frank and funny first-person voice, Lilah tells of her ghostly encounters from the perspective of a normal Jewish girl coping with abnormal powers. Droll middle school drama.

Amazing, right? FRESH, FRANK and, most importantly, FUNNY! I’m over the moon at this good stuff.

Thank you Evie, Kirkus and the Universe for this awesomeness, and for you, who I can share it with.

May Street Team Check In.

So. Hi.

Welcome to the monthly (yes, I realize I’m a bit late kicking this off) Street Team check in. Here is where you get to join my street team by telling the world about my book, SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE.

It’s really easy – and there are prizes! WHAT PRIZES? You ask?

BEHOLD (and this is just for MAY – more prizes next month, too!):

See the awesome? A signed, limited edition ARC of SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE, signed THE EDUCATION OF HAILEY KENDRICK by the awesome Eileen Cook, signed bookmarks and bracelets. YOU WANT THIS!

So, if you haven’t joined up yet, here’s how:

To be a member of the SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE Street Team, all you need to do is spread the word about, well, SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE. How? you ask? EASY: You can tweet about it, do a Facebook note about it, like my page on Facebook, write about it on your blog, make a video about it, review it on Goodreads, send an e-mail to your friends telling them to check out the book, ask your library to carry the book, whatever! I just need you to be my people on the street, getting the word out.

Sound easy? Yeah, it is. And I’m going to even reward you for it! Every month, I’ll do a draw for cool stuff: things like signed books (mine and by other cool people), Street Team SWAG, gift certificates etc. So to enter, all you need to do is spread the word and then come back and add a comment telling me what you did (and a link if it’s a video or post) and you’ll be entered in this month’s draw. Each thing you do will get you one entry, but please try to put everything in one comment, to save me having to scroll through what I’m sure will be thousands of comments. Also, don’t forget to include your e-mail address, in case you win! Be creative (and legal, of course) and have fun! Ready? GO!

If you’re super-lazy like me, you can just grab this:

Ready made Tweet/FB Status, just copy and paste: I can’t wait to read SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE by @joannelevy. I’m going to add it on Goodreads http://bit.ly/vVAKJo #SMALstreetteam

YAmazing Race with MGnificent Prizes!

Welcome YAmazing Racers!

THE RACE IS OFFICIALLY OVER – Thanks for playing!

Thanks for stopping by. If you’ve made it here by accident, why don’t you play with us anyway? We’ve got lots of prizes and FUN to be had! See below for the full info and where you’ll find the starting line:

Mark your calendars: starting Wednesday, May 2nd at 12:00pm Eastern, the Apocalypsies will be hosting the second ever YAmazing Race with MGnificent Prizes – a week-long blog race featuring over 50 debut authors! Go to THE APOCALYPSIES any time between May 2-8 to join the race and learn more about the hottest new books debuting in 2012 – AND earn a chance to win one of several prize packs made up of signed ARCs and finished copies, gift certificates, bookmarks, jewelry, swag, and more!

Okay, so you’re in? Right. So we need to start with some info about my book, so here it is:

After she’s hit by lightning at a wedding, twelve-year-old Lilah Bloom develops a new talent: she can hear dead people. Among them, there’s her over-opinionated Bubby Dora; a prissy fashion designer; and an approval-seeking clown who livens up a séance. With Bubby Dora leading the way, these and other sweetly imperfect ghosts haunt Lilah through seventh grade, and help her face her one big fear: talking to—and possibly going to the seventh-grade dance with—her crush, Andrew Finkel.

Okay, got what you need from me? Then head over to see Anne Greenwood Brown: http://annegreenwoodbrown.com/yamazing-race-with-mgnificent-prizes/

BUT WAIT! BEFORE YOU GO – THERE’S MORE!

If you go over to my Facebook Page and give it a like and tell me that you came from the YAmazing Race with MGnificent Prizes, I will throw your name into a hat and at the end of the race, I’ll draw for a pre-order of my book. If I get over 50 new likes, I’ll draw for a second one. And if I get over 75 new likes, I’ll also draw for a copy of Gina Damico’s hilarious book CROAK, so make sure you tell your friends! And if you’re already a liker of my page, don’t worry – just let me know on the page that you are participating in the YAmazing race and you’ll be entered!

What are you waiting for? GO!!!

Have your say – a very important poll!

So. You know there’s a launch party for SMALL MEDIUM AT LARGE, right? Of course you do. And you know you’re invited, right? Yeah, you knew that, too.

But, did you know that there will be cupcakes?

Probably.

But what you didn’t know, is that I want YOU to help me decide what kind of cupcakes there will be. So I’ve put together this nifty poll. I know these ALL sound delicious, but just pick your very favorite flavor and the most popular ones will be what I order for my party.

Come on! Be heard!

Even if you can’t make it, feel free to vote anyway!

Rocking the Drop!

Like several of my Class of 2k12 sibs, I’m rocking the drop tomorrow.  What does that mean? It means that in honor of Support Teen Lit Day on Thursday, April 12th, I’m going to be putting a couple of books out there for people to find. That’s right – I’m dropping FREE books into the wild to be found and enjoyed. For more info, check out ROCK THE DROP.
