Auction #71 – KidLit Cares: One Hour Skype Visit with Author Linda Tagliaferro

Welcome to KidLit Cares, an online talent auction to benefit the Red Cross relief effort to help communities recover from Superstorm Sandy. KidLit Cares was started by the very awesome Kate Messner, but I’m taking over Round 2. Agents, editors, authors, illustrators and other generous people have donated various services to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with donations being made directly to the Red Cross disaster relief fund. Linda Tagliaferro is the award-winning author of 43 books for children (and adults.) Her award-winning nonfiction books for children include the topics of nature, animals, biomes and biographies.

From Linda: I can do a one-hour Skype visit for elementary or high schools. Teachers can pick the topic of one of my many books and I can tailor my interactive talk to your curriculum needs. With younger children, I can show them how to draw some of the animals that I’ve written about. I always leave time for a Q&A at the end.

Danielle Joseph is the author of SHRINKING VIOLET, INDIGO BLUES and PURE RED. She was a college DJ for five years on the Gyroscope, a world music show. She also interned at several top Boston radio stations while earning her BFA in Creative Writing and an MA in Marketing Communications and Advertising from Emerson College. She has taught Creative Writing and English to Middle school students. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Danielle now lives in Miami, Florida with her husband and three kids.

A signed 3 Book Set of Books. Titles include: Shrinking Violet (Adapted into the Disney Channel movie Radio Rebel), Indigo Blues and Pure Red. You will also receive a 30 minute Skype visit with Danielle Joseph. Perfect for your classroom, library, book club or writing group.

Author/illustrator Katie Davis has published nine books for children and one for adults. She’s all about kidlit: from her podcasts Brain Burps About Books and Brain Burps About Books: Marketing, a blog and newsletter to her monthly appearances on Good Morning Connecticut, recommending great kid’s books. Her book trailers have been finalists in both the Moby and SLJ Trailee awards and her trailer for Little Chicken’s Big Day just won a Trailee and now she’s teaching people how to make videos! Katie presents at schools and conferences internationally, has taught children’s writing in a maximum security prison and is on the advisory board for the Brooke Jackman Foundation, a literacy-based charity.

For the winner of this auction, Katie is offering a one hour Skype visit including a full presentation on the process and creation of Katie’s latest picture book, Little Chicken’s Big Day! As well as a set of signed and personalized books, including the bestsellers Who Hops? and Kindergarten Rocks!, plus Who Hoots?, I Hate To Go To Bed!, The Curse of Addy McMahon, Party Animals, and Scared Stiff.

Amy Guglielmo and Julie Appel are the best-selling authors of the Touch the Art board book series – a fun and interactive introduction to fine art for kids. Titles include: Pop Warhol’s Top, Make Van Gogh’s Bed, Count Monet’s Lilies, Tickle Tut’s Toes.

Amy and Julie are offering a 30-minute Skype Q and A session for your school, classroom, library, or book club, along with signed copies of four books: Pop Warhol’s Top, Make Van Gogh’s Bed, Count Monet’s Lilies, and Tickle Tut’s Toes. The TOUCH THE ART series is appropriate for kids in grades Pre-K through 2. Amy will also create a custom art project to go along with the visit and will tailor the visit to meet core standards. For schools in upstate New York or Vermont: Amy is offering a full-day, in-person school visit that would include up to four presentations for grades Pre-K through 2.
